Youth Week Events

Youth in Penticton are in for a fun week.

Starting April 28 a full week’s worth of fun, affordable events have been planned for area youth by the City’s recreation department.

Events include auditions for Penticton Teen Idol Saturday at the Art Gallery of the South Okanagan and free kick boxing lessons Tuesday at the community centre.

Recreation coordinator, Carol Flynn, says all the events are either free or very cheap.

She says they are still looking for youth artists, bands and DJs for the Mayhem Event at the Youth Park which will take place May 5.

Sunday, starting at 6 p.m., the first annual Youth Etcetera Film Festival will take place at Smith and Co. on Winnipeg Street.

The films, all made by local youth, are:

‘Neceprofessary’ by Harley Pyrozyk and Shawn Tougas

‘Rubber Stops,’ by Kirk Chavarie

‘The Wish,’ by Meagan Hanley

‘Lady in the Dark,’ by Lauren Holmes and Kayla Tulak

‘Smoking Kills,’ by Neal Granger.

Anyone interested in getting involved can call Flynn at 490-2438.
