Huffing and puffing won’t blow these buildings down.
A new Osoyoos-based building company is using straw as their primary material for new homes.
Balebuild owner, Todd Payliss, says part of the company’s strategy is to include education about environmental strategies and sustainable building methods for their clients.
He says one of the benefits of using material which is considered waste product is it ends up costing less.
The company’s other owner, Lee Hollingsworth, says homes made of straw have an efficient value compared to traditional building methods.
He says they build everything from row homes to condos to commercial retail shopping centres.
