RDOS seeking feedback draft Greater West Bench Age-Friendly Assessment and Plan

Age-friendly plan feedback

The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen (RDOS) is asking for feedback on the draft for the Greater West Bench Age-Friendly Assessment and Plan.

Residents in the Electoral Area “F” are needed to review and provide feedback on the proposal.

Urban Systems Ltd. was retained by the RDOS in July of 2020 to assist with pursuing the work after receiving the funding through the Union of BC Municipalities Age-Friendly Communities grant.

With a population of roughly 2,000 residents, Greater West Bench is a rural community located within Electoral Area “F” in the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen (RDOS).

Forty-three per cent of residents in Greater West Bench are aged 55 and older, and as this number is expected to continue to increase, the RDOS has ventured to an age-friendly planning process for the community to ensure that Greater West Bench will be a neighbourhood where all demographic groups have the ability to age-in-place.

Community engagement activities for the draft included consultation with Greater West Bench community members and stakeholders.

Residents will complete a feedback form and share their thoughts about the proposed plan. The draft document is available for review on the RDOS Regional Connections website, which can be found online here.

Feedback forms will be available until Monday, Feb. 15 at 11:59 p.m. PST.
