'Forever loved, never forgotten': Memorial pops up near Penticton Secondary School where 22-year-old lost his life

A small memorial display has popped up near the track at Penticton Secondary School where a young man lost his life on Sept. 5, 2021.

Taig Savage, 22, was found unresponsive in the field in the early hours of the morning. He was suffering from critical injuries and was transported to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

RCMP released Savage's identity after family had been notified.

A planter with flowers and a few painted messages have since appeared in the stairwell leading up from the Pen High parking lot to the track where Savage died.

"In memory of the loss of an amazing, dynamic, kind, loving young man taken too soon," reads one message painted on a turquoise background.

"Forever loved, never forgotten."

A small painted rock reads: "A life that touches others goes on forever." Another painting, wrapped in plastic to protect it from the elements, has "Taig" painted in large script, surrounded by hearts.

RCMP are hoping information released about Savage may trigger someone's memory from that evening, and anyone with information is asked to contact them at 250-492-4300. He was last seen wearing a hooded sweatshirt and grey pants in the 100-block area of Eckhardt Avenue on foot.

Police wish to speak to anyone who saw him in the area on the early morning hours of Sept. 5, or who had any contact with him in throughout the night and early morning hours.
