Penticton residents advised of pile burns to FireSmart local community

Penticton residents are advised that pile burning will begin next week in the Wiltse area.

The Penticton FireSmart team is conducting the burns in the Evergreen area at 850 Wiltse Blvd. between Nov. 28 and Nov. 30, between the hours of 8 a.m. and 3 p.m.

The work is being done to reduce "ladder fuels," meaning low-lying vegetation that can spread to taller vegetation like trees in the event of a wildfire. It is part of ongoing wildfire prevention work in the community.

The public is asked to remain outside of the work area while the burning is being conducted.
