It's back! The jolliest community fun run in Penticton returns this weekend

Santas along the lakeshore

The Santa Rec Run is back!

The annual jolly community fun run returns for its 12th birthday on Saturday, Nov. 27, with all proceeds from registration fees going to the not-for-profit Youth Outdoor Recreation Society providing affordable outdoor programs for Okanagan youth.

Runners and walkers of all ages and abilities will gather at the Loco Landing Saturday afternoon for the easy five-kilometre loop along the waterfront and back, or a one-kilometre version for kids.

Every participant gets a Santa hat and gloves and entries into a prize draw, and more elaborate costumes are encouraged!

"Yes, the weather is getting colder but we encourage everyone to just throw on a few extra layers, including a costume, enjoy some outside exercise and fresh air and check out our beautifully decorated course," said Hoodoo Adventures founder Lyndie Hill, who is behind the run.

Participants are encouraged to enter in groups such as school classrooms, businesses or clubs who can be entered to win prizes of customized fun outdoor activities with Hoodoo Adventures.

Rates are $15 per child aged 4-16, $20 per adult or $50 for a family rate of three to five people. Registration is required.

All proceeds will go right to the Youth Outdoor Recreation Society.
