South Okanagan/Similkameen SPCA asking for foster homes for cats and kittens out of homes due to floods

Fosters needed for flood cats

The South Okanagan-Similkameen BC SPCA branch is hoping the community will step up to help house animals displaced by recent storms.

They are looking for people to join their foster home program for cats and kittens. SPCA teams in other areas of the province are overwhelmed, and the local branch wants to help.

"If you have a spare room in your home that isn’t being used currently, please consider offering this space to cats or kittens in need, even for the next 2-4 weeks," they ask.

And if fostering isn't in the cards, there are other ways to help. Longtime local donor Barry Zarudenec, with the help of the Penticton Indian Band, recently raised $1,220 for the local SPCA branch during a Halloween Drive-Thru event.

Branch manager Carolyn Hawkins said she is very appreciative of the support.
