Highway 3 reopened east of Princeton after crash that killed one person Monday morning

Morning crash was fatal

UPDATE: 3:10 p.m.

A crash that closed Highway 3 east of Princeton Monday morning left one person dead.

Cpl. Mike Halskoff with BC Highway Patrol said it was a single vehicle with incident that resulted in the death of the sole occupant.

The incident is not considered criminal in nature.

The death comes just days after three people were killed west of Princeton on the highway when two semi trucks collided.

Highway 3 was closed temporarily Monday morning while the vehicle was removed.


UPDATE 1:20 p.m.

Highway 3 have reopened east of Princeton in both directions. The highway remains closed west of the community.


UPDATE: 12 p.m.

DriveBC reports Highway 3 remains closed due to a vehicle incident seven kilometres east of Princeton.

No detour is available for commercial traffic, though small vehicles can use Old Hedley Road as a detour.

The estimated time of re-opening is 1:30 p.m. Monday.

Highway 3 is closed in both directions Monday morning seven kilometres east of Princeton due to a vehicle incident.

DriveBC reports that emergency vehicles are on scene. The closure is between Taylor Way and Gold Mountain Road for 0.9 kilometres, the same area that was closed as a precaution Saturday afternoon due to impending rain and remained closed Sunday as water pooled.

Small vehicle traffic can use Old Hedley Road as a detour.

DriveBC says they will have another update at 12 p.m. Monday.

A larger section that includes the small part now closed due to the vehicle incident was closed for two nights this weekend due to flooding conditions.
