A flood warning for the Tulameen River and flood watch for the Similkameen River in rural Princeton remain in effect Monday morning.

The BC River Forecast Centre issued the advisory and watch Sunday after heavy overnight rains continued into the daytime and water levels began to climb.

A warning means riverbanks are full and flooding will result in areas adjacent to the Tulameen River. Multiple properties in Tulameen and Coalmont remain under evacuation order. Residents who were still in the area Sunday afternoon were urged by the local fire department to leave.

The advisory for the Similkameen River means riverbanks are nearing full, and may cause flooding.

Properties all along the river in rural Princeton, Regional District of Okanagan Similkameen Area H, are under evacuation alert, meaning residences should be ready to go at a moment's notice.

Anyone under order or alert due to flooding can self-register with Emergency Support Services here. Find an interactive map of properties under alert and order can be found here.
