Prepare for the return of Penticton's events seasons, and the road closures that come with it

Events mean road closures

As summer festival season kicks off with a bang for the first time in two years this weekend, the City of Penticton is warning residents of upcoming road closures.

This weekend the annual grad parade down Main Street, Peach City Beach Cruise car show on Lakeshore Drive and Elvis Festival will dominate the north end of the city.

“Penticton has a long history of hosting large-scale events, and we’re thrilled to open our arms and welcome everyone back again,” said Penticton Mayor John Vassilaki.

“With more than a dozen major events taking place this summer alone, we can bet this will be an exciting time for residents and local businesses, securing Penticton’s place on the special events hosting map.”

This weekend, plan ahead when trying to access Okanagan Lake. And on all future weekends, check ahead online here for upcoming planned road closures.

On the City’s events webpage, find an event calendar and current information about scheduled events.

“We have many weekends of overlapping events coming up, so expect to see greater volumes of people at many of your favourite places. This is welcome news for our local businesses and vital to our economy, so join us in welcoming the visitors, entertainers, athletes and spectators this season,” said Carly Lewis, economic development manager.
