Residents all safe after home on Penticton's Forsyth Drive completely destroyed by overnight fire

No injuries in house fire

UPDATE: 11:05 a.m.

The Penticton Fire Department spent hours battling a house fire late on Friday night and into the morning.

Rob Trupp, Assistant Chief with the PFD, said crews were called at 11:30 p.m. to the 2300 block of Forsyth Drive and the house fire was finally extinguished by 4:30 a.m. Saturday.

The structural damage was reported to be "considerable."

No injuries were reported, and all residents made it out of the home safely.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.


ORIGINAL: 8:30 a.m.

A house was completely destroyed by a fire on Penticton's West Bench area overnight.

The large fire occurred just before midnight on Forsyth Drive. The home quickly became completely engulfed in flames.

Some witnesses reported hearing an explosion during the fire.

Penticton Fire Department crews attended the scene and eventually got the blaze extinguished.

The residents of the home are believed to have made it out of the home safely.

It's not clear at this time what started the fire.
