Plenty of fans out in Penticton to watch the 60th Anniversary outdoor All-Star Weekend

The stands were packed on Saturday to see the BCHL’s best players and some big-name hockey alumni in the 60th Anniversary outdoor All-Star Weekend in Penticton.

The events at the outdoor rink are free for the public to attend, with no ticket required. With a full day of competitions, activities and tournaments, there’s plenty going on this weekend.

Saturday afternoon featured the skills competition and the alumni and friends game, featuring NHL legends like Scott Niedermayer, Brendan Morrison and Scott Turris. The full roster is here.

Tyler Johnston, one of the stars of the TV show Letterkenny was also on the ice.

The games were 3-on-3 with two teams of six skaters and one goalie facing off in three 10-minute running time periods.

BCHL goalies were between the pipes, including Carter Richardson from the Salmon Arm Silverbacks and Justin Katz from the West Kelowna Warriors, who really held their own.

Events continue into Saturday evening, with the BCHL 3-on-3 All Star Series running from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., followed by a community skate.
