While Penticton has many fuel-free ways to explore the city and surrounding area, if you’re looking for a winter warm up and a java boost to fuel up for a walk in the January weather, take a stroll to one, or more, of these spots for a cuppa.

In downtown Penticton, the aromas wafting into the air on the corner of Main and Nanaimo are coming from Petrasek Artisan Bakery the comforting scent of fresh baked breads, pastries, and desserts mixes with fresh coffee. A perfect blend if you’re window shopping and need to keep warm.

A fresh cup with a pain au chocolate or a savoury spinach and feta pastry for lunch might hit the spot while you relax inside and ponder which of their many breads you should take home. Follow them on social media so you don’t miss getting a favourite loaf before it sells out.

Creations from Gratify can be found in the menus of a number of eateries around town, but if you’re in search of delicious plant-based options, stop in and enjoy a hot (or cold) beverage.

Tea lovers may go for the Gratify Chai, and hot chocolate lovers – 20 percent of hot chocolate sales at Gratify will be donated to the food bank until Feb. 14 during the Okanagan Hot Chocolate Festival.

The classic hot chocolate is vegan and gluten free, and there are many healthy options for coffee.

If you’re anticipating a warm spring or a hot summer, try a Blended Java or Mocha with your choice of oat, almond, or soy milk, and add an optional booster for an extra kick. Grab a hot café latte, then top your drink of choice with coconut whip. Don’t forget to pre-order a dish or two from Gratify’s grocery menu to bring home.

Conveniently, you can place your order online for pickup at Wayne & Freda if you’re on a schedule. If not, enjoy the shop’s wide variety of coffee choices while you’re taking a break from the office or are in between Zoom calls.

Espresso, Cortado, Americano, Mocha and more. Guatemalan or Ethiopian drip coffee, blended lattes, and a selection of stone ground teas will warm you up, on the side of a delicious sandwich or bowl, salad or soup.

Overlooking Okanagan Lake, Sociale by Villa Rosa is becoming a popular weekend brunch spot, but there is also the takeout friendly Caffe Al Sociale.

Garb a takeout salad, sandwich, or sweet treat with an artisan coffee like the brown sugar oat latte, a classic Americano, or an indulgent flavoured mocha. The medium to dark roast coffee beans are also available to take home so you can caffeinate at home anytime.

The barista team at Caffe Al Sociale is always working on a new flavour to keep you warm and fueled up for a winter walk by the lake.
