Help pick Penticton's greatest chilis at upcoming cook-off supporting the art gallery

Beat chill at chili cook-off

The Penticton Art Gallery is excited to announce its upcoming “Loving Mugs Chili Cook-Off” event, which will give attendees a chance to take home both piece of art and a full tummy.

On February 23rd, 2023, join in the celebration of community, friendship, unity, and love. Guests will have the opportunity to sample and vote on a variety of delicious chili dishes from local vendors such as Gratify, Highway 97 Brewery, The Pasta Factory, Honey Toast, and more.

They will also get to pick out a beautiful handmade mug, to take home as a souvenir. The mugs, known as “Loving Mugs," are traditional drinking vessels with two handles, one on either side, symbolizing the themes of the event.

In addition to delicious food and drinks, attendees will be entertained with live music provided by Daryl O'Neill and will have the chance to win door prizes.

And of course, there is the chili competition, with attendees voting on their favourite dishes. Trophies will be presented to the winners in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place, as well as special superlative prizes for categories such as “beaniest”, “spiciest”, and “most creative."

“We’re thrilled to be hosting this unique and fun event for its sixth iteration,” said Rebecca Stocker, a staff member at the Penticton Art Gallery.

“We can’t wait for everyone to come out and enjoy some delicious chili while getting to take home a beautiful handmade mug.”

Tickets are on sale now through the Penticton Art Gallery website. Members can purchase tickets for $40, while non-members can purchase tickets for $45.
