Summerland getting new fire truck

Summerland will be getting a new fire truck.

The order was put in this week by council for a water pumper truck.

The purchase was included in its budget, as it is costing $560,000.

“It's a pumper truck designed to replace a 20-year-old unit. It was budgeted for earlier this year and was included to the tune of $600,000 in the budget review,” says Councillor Ken Roberge.

A few other items were also discussed during the recent council meeting.

Roberge says the elector response forms are available at Municipal Hall regarding the Prairie Valley Road upgrade.

“Elector response forms are available under the Alternative Approval Process that would authorize council to borrow up to $2 million for the Prairie Valley Road and Rosedale Avenue upgrading project. They are available Tuesday morning and will continue to be available until I believe it's December 29 of this year,” says Roberge.

He says they will also be reviewing a proposal from the Regional District to supply domestic water to Faulder residents.
