Collision kills Osoyoos woman

Alcohol and fatigue are suspected factors in a collision which has claimed the life of an Osoyoos woman.

Anna Torine Burris, 48, died at the scene which occurred just before 9 p.m. Monday on Highway 3 near Vineyard Court, west of Osoyoos.

Corporal Bryce Petersen says a GMC Canyon pickup was east bound on Highway 3 when it went off the road.

“It tumbled down the 75 foot rock embankment, striking a power line that eliminated the power to a few homes in the immediate area. Burris was deceased at the scene and the male passenger was removed to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries,” says Petersen.

He says the man’s name is not being released, but he is a 54-year-old resident of Greenwood.

Petersen says speed was not a factor in the crash.

Any witness are encouraged to contact the South Okanagan Traffic Services in Keremeos at (250) 499-2250.
