Penticton under wind warning

Environment Canada has issued a wind warning for the South Okanagan, including Penticton.

Meteorologist Jean Jacques says while the entire Valley will be windy, a push from the south means the winds may gust past 60 kph in the south Okanagan.

"There could be some minor tree damage when winds get that high, and of course there's wave action to be careful of, but I don't imagine many people are on the lake right now," he says.

The wind will get worse overnight, gusting to as much as 90 kph then diminishing late during the day Monday, he says.

The forecast for Penticton calls for a 40 per cent chance of rain and a high of 3 C today, and a high of 6 C Monday.
