Poll: quarantine exemptions

Canadians returning to the country after a winter in the U.S. are lobbying the federal government to end its mandatory hotel quarantine program.
The Canadian Snowbird Association reiterated its call Tuesday that an exemption be put in place for fully vaccinated Canadian residents inoculated in the U.S. who are re-entering Canada by air.
The group, representing about 115,000 Canadians, says there is no scientific argument that someone who is fully vaccinated at least two weeks prior to arrival in Canada is a risk to public health.
The association is pointing to a federal advisory panel that last month recommended the government end the program, highlighting that some travellers are choosing to bypass the mandatory quarantine and receive a fine instead.
