Pedestrian hit by CP train

A pedestrian was struck by a train in Salmon Arm on the weekend, but officials are releasing few details.

Salem Woodrow, a spokesman for CP Rail, said at about 11:45 a.m. Saturday, “an individual was struck by a freight train at the railway crossing at Marine Park Drive NE and Lakeshore Drive NE in Salmon Arm.”

The individual was taken to hospital, but the extent of the person's injuries was not disclosed, nor was the age or gender of the pedestrian.

Local police, EMS and CP Police attended the incident.

Salmon Arm police did not return a request for information.
