Holiday Train on the way

Once again the popular CP Holiday Train will be making its way across Canada, but unfortunately, it will not be stopping in the Okanagan.

The closest the train will come is the Shuswap where it will make stops in Canoe, Notch Hill, Sicamous and Salmon Arm on Dec. 14.

The train will also make a stop in Kamloops on Dec. 15 before making its way to the Lower Mainland.

Now in its 18th year, the brightly lit train raises money, food and awareness for food banks and hunger issues while hosting free concerts along the way.

Since its launch in 1999, the program has raised more than $12 million and nearly four million pounds of food for communities along CP's routes.

Fans of the Holiday Train are encouraged to take photos capturing the train in various cities and landscapes and entering the "Capture the Spirit" photo contest on Facebook for a chance to win an exclusive ride on next year's train.
