Big fine for vape dealer

A Sicamous man watched as more than $500 went up in smoke for providing e-cigarettes to youths.

Cpl. Dan Moskaluk said Sicamous RCMP recently received a complaint that local youths were in possession of e-cigarettes and related vapour products, commonly known as E-Juice.

“The Provincial Tobacco and Vapour Products Control Act makes it an offence to sell, offer for sale, provide or distribute tobacco or vapour products to anyone under the age of 19,” said Moskaluk. “The investigation resulted in police identifying a 56-year-old Sicamous man who was reported to be selling vapour products from his residence."

The Sicamous RCMP contacted Interior Health authorities who have the purview of inspecting vendors of tobacco and vapour products for compliance with the law.

On Dec. 9 a tobacco enforcement officer with Interior Health issued a $575 violation ticket to the unidentified man after evidence was obtained that he had supplied vapour products to a person under the age of 19.
