Trial for Celista shooting

A suspect has been ordered to stand trial in B.C. Supreme Court on a host of charges connected to a fatal shooting in the small Shuswap community of Celista earlier this year.

Richard Allen Williams, 60, was arrested by the RCMP on Feb. 11.

Chase RCMP had responded to the incident on Feb. 7, finding three injured adult males at the scene – two of whom had suffered serious gunshot wounds while a third man was treated for a minor gunshot wound and released.

However one of the victims later died of his injuries in hospital.

Williams is charged with attempted murder with a firearm, discharging a firearm with intent to wound or maim, assault with a weapon, aggravated assault, break and enter and disguising face with intent to commit offence.

He was expected to appear for a preliminary inquiry in a Kamloops courtroom this week but is heading straight to trial, court records show.
