Curtis Sagmoen facing new charge of assaulting peace officer

Sagmoen charged in assault

Curtis Sagmoen is facing a new criminal charge.

One count of assaulting a peace officer has been levelled against Sagmoen for an incident that occurred Oct. 29 in the Spallumcheen area. The charge was sworn by prosecutors on Dec. 16.

Sagmoen was scheduled for Salmon Arm court today for his first appearance related to the count. He's expected in a Vernon court room Jan. 7 to consult legal counsel.

Oct. 29 was the same evening police executed a search warrant at Sagmoen's parent's Salmon River Road property where he lives. Police have not stated why they were there. Police were there earlier in the month as well after the public alerted them to suspicious activity at the farm.

The property was where Traci Genereaux's remains were discovered in October of 2017. No one has been charged in relation to her death.

Sagmoen has a court order to stay away from sex workers, and has been convicted of violent crimes against women including an incident where he ran over a sex worker with an ATV.
