Evacuation alert lifted for fire burning on Seymour Arm of Shuswap Lake

Evac alert rescinded

An evacuation alert has been lifted for a fire burning in the North Shuswap.

The Columbia Shuswap Regional District says the alert issued Aug. 17 over the threat of the Mount Grice-Hutchinson fire on the Seymour Arm of Shuswap Lake is now rescinded.

All properties in the boat-in-only area are now given the all clear.

There are five cabins in the area.

As the fire is under control, but not completely extinguished, residents are advised to remain vigilant and to monitor the CSRD and Shuswap Emergency Program web pages for additional information.

According to the latest information on the BC Wildfire Service dashboard, the fire has burned an estimated 7.9 hectares.
