An Enderby man is on trial in Salmon Arm for a New Year's Day robbery on Jan. 1, 2020.
Anthony Robert Summers, 31, faces multiple charges, including armed robbery, disguising his face with intent to commit an offence, using a firearm while committing indictable offence, pointing a firearm, possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and possession of stolen property under $5,000.
Summers was arrested the same evening after an off-duty police officer who happened to be in the liquor store at the time witnessed the incident.
At the time, police said the suspect, whose face was obstructed by a balaclava, was in possession of a long-barrelled firearm.
He pointed the firearm at a customer before fleeing in a motor vehicle with an undisclosed amount of cash and cigarettes.
No staff or customers were physically injured during the interaction.
