The Kelowna Rockets are pleased to announce 19-year-old Defenceman SHEA WEBER has been named to Team Canada's 2005 World Junior Roster. The announcement of the final roster was made by Hockey Canada this morning.
Weber was selected in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft by the Nashville Predators (Round 2, #49 overall). Weber is currently in his third year with the Rockets. He has played 32 games with 9 goals, 16 assists for a total of 25 points to date.
Rockets Head Coach, Jeff Truitt stated, "We're very proud of Shea and his accomplishments and we know that he will do us proud and contribute to Team Canada over the Christmas holidays. We'll all be cheering for Shea and Team Canada!"
The final roster will contain 23 players who will compete in the IIHF 2005 World Junior Hockey Championships in Grand Forks, North Dakota and Thief River Falls, Minnesota from December 25, 2004 to January 4, 2005.
Team Canada will play their first game of the tournament on Christmas Day against Team Slovakia in Grand Forks, ND.
