McLaren Changing Cars

Three races into the new Formula One season and there are reports that McLaren are prepared to throw in the towel. According to a report in the Guardian newspaper, the Woking-based team is prepared to scrap the under performing MP4-19 for a brand new car, possibly in time for the Hungarian Grand Prix in August.

  • The Washington Capitals, moving up two places, will pick first in the 2004 NHL entry draft after winning a draw conducted Tuesday by the league. The draft is scheduled for June 26 at RBC Center in Raleigh, N.C.

  • Kobe Bryant's lawyers insisted Tuesday that they want a trial as quickly as possible, complaining that the rape case has exacted a grueling personal and professional toll'' on the NBA star.
  • Martina Navratilova lost her first singles appearance in the United States in more than 10 years Tuesday, falling to Milagros Sequera of Venezuela 1-6, 6-3, 6-2 at the Bausch & Lomb Championships.
  • Elton Brand was fined $5,000 US by the NBA on Tuesday for criticizing the officials after the Los Angeles Clippers lost to Utah.
