Leigha Horsfield is named one of Vernon's Top 20 Over 40

The Greater Vernon Chamber of Commerce has released its Top 20 Over 40 list for 2020, and Castanet will be featuring all of the honourees.

When it comes to local business, Leigha Horsfield has her finger on the pulse as much as anyone. As General Manager of Community Futures North Okanagan, she is involved with small businesses in the area virtually every step of the way.

"We support businesses from every stage, from startup all the way through to even a succession plan," says Horsfield. "We offer one-on-one coaching, training and workshops to help these businesses succeed."

Horsfield has been involved in the community in a number of ways, from sitting on the District of Coldstream Advisory Planning Commission to being an executive for the Vernon Women in Business Committee. She finds her volunteering and work positions mesh well together, and each aids the other.

"Volunteering in the community helps me see first-hand how the business landscape is, which provides me with insight I can use in my job," she says. "It's valuable insight that would be more difficult to find another way."
