Enderby will be hosting online & in person Canada Day festivities

Canada Day online, in person

We all knew that Canada Day celebrations would look a lot different this year, and each municipality is thinking outside the box to give their people something to look forward to.

As for the City of Enderby, they will be hosting an online and in person Canada Day hybrid. Some events will be be held physically throughout the city, while others that weren't feasible are being hosted virtually.

The first in person event will be the loonie swims at the recently reopened pool, and there will be a total of three sessions. Each one will run for an hour, with a 15-minute break for sanitation. The shifts will be from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., 2:15 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. The sessions will run on a first come first served basis.

From 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Music by the River in Belvedere Park will be going ahead with social distancing protocols in place. Tickets must be purchased in advance, and you can reserve your spot by emailing [email protected].

The annual fireworks show will also be going ahead, starting between 9:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. depending on weather and darkness.

"Please watch from home or a distance in your vehicle, as access to the park is not permitted," says Tate Bengtson, City of Enderby CAO. "You can even livestream it from the comfort of your home."

Other events such as the singing of O Canada, trivia contests and a performance from local rockabilly artist Dixie Fried Hep Katz will be held virtually starting at 11 a.m. You can virtually attend Enderby's Canada Day events through Facebook, or livestream them on YouTube.
