Vernon RCMP arrest three men from Surrey after 4-day crime spree

Crime spree leads to arrests

The Vernon RCMP have arrested three men from the Lower Mainland area after they went on a four-day crime spree.

Numerous 911 calls were made to the Vernon RCMP in the early hours of Sunday morning regarding the three suspects who were allegedly bear spraying, robbing people and attempting to steal vehicles throughout Vernon. Multiple cruisers were in the Silver Star Road and Pleasant Valley Road area attempting to stop them.

"A spike belt was deployed by officers in an attempt to disable the vehicle, however the vehicle avoided the road block by driving off road, through properties located on the south side of Silver Star Road, and continued West bound at a high rate of speed," says RCMP Const. Kelly Brett. "Given the nature of the offences that took place, frontline officers pursued the vehicle until coming into contact with it, taking three males into custody without injury."

The Vernon North Okanagan RCMP General Investigation Section, who has taken over the investigation, has now linked over 19 crimes that could be related to the group over the four-day span. The trio are being held in custody to appear in court.

If you were a witness in this incident and haven't yet spoken to the police, the Vernon RCMP ask you to call 250-545-7171 and reference file number 2020-11278.
