Some GVW customers will be out of water Tuesday evening

Repair work shuts off water

Emergency repair work is taking place on a major water main serving Greater Vernon Water (GVW) customers.

Some customers will have no access to water during the repair time on Tuesday evening, announced the Regional District of North Okanagan.

Notification signs will be posted in the Buchanan Road area between Ricardo Road and Murphy Road to alert and notify affected customers of the water service interruption.

GVW customers in Vernon are being asked to voluntarily minimize water use due to the size of the main, including customers in most of Vernon and high flow agricultural customers in the BX area and east side of Swan Lake.

Customers are also asked to not irrigate for one day on Tuesday, June 30, to help the system remain pressurized.

"By taking this action you will be helping protect your water system and will avoid a longer period of restriction, including the potential need to shut off agricultural services," reads the RDNO announcement.

GVW customers in the Goose Lake Non-Potable Service Area as well as those east of Murphy Road in Coldstream will not be affected and may continue to use water normally.

If you have any questions, contact the RDNO Utilities Department at 250-550-3700.
