Classic and exotic cars gather in Vernon for a summer car show

Summer means fancy cars

Some fancy cars were cruising the Vernon streets on Sunday as they were taking part in an impromptu summer car show.

The showcase was hosted by Hello Okanagan, a local YouTube show that highlights the positive aspects of the region while also providing insightful discussions about the world around us.

"We asked people what they love about the Okanagan, and one of the things I heard from a lot of people was their vehicles," says Peter Kaz, co-host and producer of Hello Okanagan. "You'll see more awesome exotic and classic cars here more than anywhere else because of two factors: the drive is awesome, and the weather."

Over 50 vehicles came to strut their stuff in the old Canadian Tire parking lot, with a blend of classic and high-end vehicles. Some of the highlights were a grey 2015 Lamborghini Aventador, a cherry red 1947 Buick Super convertible, a lime green 1948 modified Ford truck and a grey 1932 Ford Roadster pickup.

"It's been a blast — we're keeping people socially distanced from one another and we've given a one-stall buffer between vehicles," says Kaz. "People have been following those guidelines and everyone seems to really be enjoying themselves."

Hello Okanagan is not stopping here, as they have many more ideas coming for their channel.

"We're going to be doing an aviation show, a show about the best beaches in the Okanagan, we'll visit some wineries and we'll have a show coming up about micro-weddings too," says Kaz. "For this car show we wanted to not only film a show, but we also wanted to do something for the community."
