SeaDoo on Kal Lake ran out of gas, was not abandoned

He just ran out of gas

A SeaDoo that was believed to be abandoned on Kalamalka Lake Saturday night had simply run out of fuel, according to police.

RCMP were notified about 7 p.m. of the unattended watercraft floating near the Okanagan Rail Trail.

Vernon Search and Rescue sent out two boats to find the vessel while RCMP conducted witness interviews on shore.

"After conducting witness interviews, police learned the operator of a SeaDoo had run out of gas earlier in the day and was transported by boat to obtain fuel, leaving the Seadoo behind," Cpl. Tania Finn said in a press release issued Monday.

"The boat and SeaDoo operator returned a short while later and both left the area."

Search and rescue looked for the vessel from Vernon to Oyama, but were unsuccessful.
