Crews working to complete emergency water main repairs, City of Vernon says

Traffic along 43 Avenue is reduced to a single lane, and 29 Street will only be accessible for local traffic as crews work to complete emergency water main repairs in the area.

The City of Vernon is advising residents there may be an interruption in water service for some homes on Tuesday evening as crews perform emergency repairs on a water main.

According to a statement from the city, the emergency repair work is required at the intersection of 29 Street and 43 Avenue.

“While the work is underway, a partial road closure will be required and water service may be interrupted for nearby properties,” the city said.

The city said traffic will be reduced to one lane in both directions on 43 Avenue. Only local traffic will be permitted to access 29 Street from 41 Avenue.

The utility repair will begin at 6 p.m. Tuesday. Work is expected to finish by Wednesday morning.

“If water service is interrupted, residents are reminded that there may be turbidity in the water when service resumes. If this occurs, please run your cold water for up to 5 minutes to clear your lines,” the city said.
