Annual event is back at Historic O'Keefe Ranch near Vernon next month

Merry Victorian Christmas

It's beginning to look a lot like a Victorian Christmas at Historic O'Keefe Ranch.

Along with traditional favourites, there will be some new activities at event.

There will be local artisans, roasting chestnuts, hot beverages and live music and holiday cheer at the ranch that is 10 minutes from Vernon on Highway 97.

The historic buildings will be decorated in the spirit of the season and the General Store will be full of goodies.

People can bring their pets and have photo taken with Father Christmas.

O’Keefe Ranch is also introducing the inaugural Gingerbread House Contest.

To enter the Gingerbread House Contest, participants must bring their Gingerbread House to the ranch by Dec. 3 in order to be eligible to win a prize. There are also bonus prizes given for houses patterned after a building on the ranch.

Gingerbread Houses brought to the ranch will be on display in the Greenhow Museum during the Victorian Christmas event in December. The prizes range from cash to candy, with adult and children's categories.

For information about the contest, email [email protected].

Visitors of the Victorian Christmas Event will be able to vote for People’s Choice.

The North Okanagan Model Railway Association will also be hosting train gingerbread creation and decoration.

O’Keefe Ranch is closed for the regular season, but it will open its doors for the family friendly event on Dec. 4, 5, 11, 12, 18, 19 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Admission is by donation.
