GoFundMe campaign launched to help Vernon mother battle lung cancer

Help Dot fight cancer

Family and friends are rallying around a Vernon woman recently diagnosed with cancer.

Cara Trotchie launched a GoFundMe campaign this week to help Dot Glennie, the mother of her best friend Kortney Krystik.

This year "has been an uphill battle for Dot, to say the least," the GoFundMe page states.

"From having COVID, to breaking her foot and arm, to almost dying from appendicitis in September, where she spent weeks in the hospital. Now, she is in for the biggest and hardest fight of her life."

Glennie has been diagnosed aggressive lung cancer in both lungs.

"Anyone who knows Dot knows that she would give the shirt off her back to help anyone in need," writes Trotchie.

"That's just who she is. And now it's our turn to do the same for her and her family."

The campaign seeks to help pay for medical and everyday expenses while Glennie is unable to work.

Trotchie adds: "Some would say she has the luck of the Irish with always winning social media contests, and she has won a lot in the five years I have known her. I wish she had that good luck when it comes to her health."

The campaign had raised $1,175 as of Wednesday afternoon, towards a goal of $20,000.
