Erik Olesen seeking Vernon council seat in Dec. 4 byelection

Olesen: fiscal responsibility

Castanet has given each of the Vernon council byelection candidates the opportunity to introduce themselves on video and present their reasons for running.

Erik Olesen is running for council because he believes “in helping the community."

“I believe I am going to bring an unbiased opinion to council and one of change,” he says.

Olesen says one of his key focusses will be on fiscal responsibility.

“We know from this pandemic people are already hurting ... so we need to do everything we can as councillors and elected officials to mitigate tax increases to the best of our abilities,” he said.

Olesen sought the NDP nomination in the last provincial election. He also ran for council in the 2018 municipal election.

The byelection was called earlier this year after the passing of former Coun. Dalvir Nahal.

Election night is Dec. 4.
