Literacy Society of the North Okanagan holding workshops to help people with smart phones, tablets and laptops

How to use digital devices

The Literacy Society of the North Okanagan wants to help people make better use of digital devices.

The society is offering a series of small-group workshops for adults wanting to learn the fundamentals of their smart phone, tablet or personal laptop.

The workshops are professionally facilitated by Tamarack Tech and all COVID safety protocols, including providing a vaccine passport, will be required to attend the free workshops.

“The complexities of an increasingly digitalized world are excluding many adults from fully participating in society,” said Wendy Aasen, executive director. “Our beginner workshops provide the basic skills and tools needed to build confidence in learners.”

Upcoming workshops are as follows:

  • Friday, Jan. 21, 9 a.m. to noon – iPad/iPhone basics
  • Friday, Jan. 21, 1 to 4 p.m. –Samsung tablet basics
  • Friday, Jan. 28, 9 a.m. to noon – Samsung phone basics
  • Friday, Jan. 28, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. – iPad/iPhone basics

Participants must bring their own device to the workshop and must pre-register by calling the Literacy Society at 250-275-3117.

Future workshops for personal computers and level 2 users will be based on demand.
