Gold Rush Scavenger Hunt, Chili Cook-Off return for Vernon Winter Carnival

Downtown Vernon is getting ready for the return of its two signature Vernon Winter Carnival events.

The Downtown Vernon Association is hosting its 13th annual Chili Cook-Off as well as the Gold Rush Scavenger Hunt.

The Chili Cook-Off sees five restaurants again battling for the tastebuds of their customers.

Competing venues include Eatology, Marten Brewing, The Kal, Ratio coffee house, and Station BBQ.

You can pick up a ballot at any of the locations, sample the offerings at your leisure and vote for your favourite.

Choose a chili meal or a sample cup and rate at least four of the five to enter a DVA contest.

Share a photo of your meal on social media and tag the venue, and you could also win a prize.

The Gold Rush Scavenger Hunt is back by popular demand.

Follow clues and brain teasers with friends or family for a chance to win a real gold nugget.

The new event won best outdoor event at last year's carnival.

Purchase clue packages for $10 from the Vernon Winter Carnival office, starting Feb. 28.

Those who correctly answer the 12 clues are placed in a draw for the grand prize, plus many others from the event's 21 sponsors.

Advance clue packs can be won on Pure Country FM from Jan. 24 to 28.
