North Westside Study Committee open house on future governance

Westside looks at future

North Westside residents will have another chance to consider their future governance.

The North Westside Study Committee has added a fourth information open house on July 7.

The North Westside Road communities of Killiney Beach, Westshore Estates, Estamont, Valley of the Sun, Fintry, La Casa, and Caesar's Landing currently lie within the Central Okanagan Regional District – but in recent years have discussed the possibility of self governance.

Many of those residents live closer to Vernon than they do to Kelowna.

The open house is scheduled for 6-8:30 p.m. at Killiney Beach Community Hall, 516 Udell Rd.

Representatives from the study committee along with consultants will be on hand with information to answer questions, discuss the group's interim report, and receive comments from residents.

A feedback form will be available for participants to fill out.

The consultants will provide a presentation at 7 p.m. followed by a facilitated question and answer session. The information provided will be the same as that presented at three previous open houses in June.

The committee is engaging residents in an analysis of the current regional district governance and service delivery, with a particular emphasis on communities within the North Westside Fire Protection area.

"The study is exploring residents’ governance concerns, common interests and this fall, will provide options to address their most pressing needs within the regional district governance framework," the RDCO says.

A draft study review and online feedback form can be found at yoursay.rdco.com.
