A pedestrian suffered serious injuries in a hit and run collision Friday night in Vernon.
The victim was struck about 10:30 p.m. at the intersection of 37th Street and 25th Avenue.
Police arrived on scene shortly before 11 p.m. after receiving a report the driver had fled.
The 47-year-old male pedestrian sustained serious injuries and was rushed to hospital, where he remained in stable condition, police said Monday.
"Video surveillance obtained by investigators captured the incident and shows the man crossing 25th Avenue and being struck by a small, dark-coloured, passenger vehicle which then drives away," says Vernon RCMP spokesperson Const. Chris Terleski.
The vehicle has not yet been located.
The scene on 25th Avenue was closed to traffic into Saturday morning while police investigated.
A member of the RCMP Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Services team attended the scene and is assisting with the ongoing investigation.
Police are asking anyone who witnessed the collision or has information on to the vehicle involved to contact Vernon RCMP at 250-545-7171 and quote file number 2022-13794.
