Haunting of Falkland a hit, raises $10,000 for charities

The Haunting of Falkland brought in record profits this Halloween.

More than 3,600 people were brave enough to walk through the event grounds in the Halloween tradition that raises money for non-profit organizations in the Falkland area.

The event presented by the Falkland and District Community Association and Falkland Historical Society saw the museum grounds full of spooky walkthroughs and creepy carnival games, with something for all ages.

"It was unbelievable," says event co-founder Dean Trumbley. "Some nights both sides of the highway through Falkland were lined up with vehicles. Everyone had an amazing time, and we hope to see growth again next year."

The marquee attraction, the Haunted Hall, featured theatre-quality sets, sound and special effects.

Co-founder Denise Frocklage adds: "We almost doubled the amount of donations this year and added another three non-profit organizations."

This year's proceeds will allow the following charities to share just over $10,000.

• Falkland Girl Guides
• Falkland Youth Soccer
• Falkland Sunday Morners
• Falkland Volunteer Fire Department
• Monte Lake Outdoor Life Club
• Westwold Legion
• Falkland Curling Club
• Cedar Hill Church Youth Group

Frocklage says several groups set up their own fundraising tables at the event and were able to make even more money for their charities.

Planning for next year’s Haunting of Falkland is already in the works, with a meeting set for March 2023.
