Crash brought hydro lines down across Highway 97A near Enderby

BC Emergency Health Services says paramedics assessed the driver in a crash that closed Highway 97A near Enderby overnight, but the patient did not require transport to hospital.

North Okanagan RCMP say a crash that closed Highway 97A near Enderby overnight involved a van colliding with a hydro pole.

The highway remains closed this morning, according to DriveBC, as lines were brought down across the highway near Springbend Road.

The single-vehicle collision happened shortly before 6 p.m. Tuesday.

"A van travelling southbound on Highway 97A lost control and collided with a hydro pole, causing one of the lines to break free and fall onto the road," says RCMP spokesperson Const. Chris Terleski.

"The highway was temporarily closed to allow utility crews to make the necessary repairs and render the scene safe."

No injuries were reported in the incident

Highway 97A remains closed north of Enderby this morning following a crash Tuesday night.

DriveBC reports the highway was still closed as of 7 a.m. six kilometres north of Enderby.

The incident is reported at Springbend Road.

The highway is closed to all traffic except emergency vehicles.

A detour is in effect.
