Kelowna Rockets suspend activities for 2 weeks after 6 more positive COVID-19 tests

The Kelowna Rockets are suspending all team activities for two weeks and postponing 10 games after six more members of the organization have tested positive for COVID-19.

In a news release Wednesday, the WHL says two more hockey staff members and four players have tested positive for the coronavirus. Testing was initiated after an earlier positive test within a staff member on Tuesday.

All other test results from the other team cohorts in the Kelowna and Kamloops hubs tested negative.

All close contacts of the cases are being told to self-quarantine and monitor symptoms for 14 days while the Rockets help health officials with contact tracing.

As a result of the suspension of activities for the Kelowna Rockets, the following WHL regular season games have been postponed:

• March 30, 2021 Kamloops at Kelowna
• March 31, 2021 Vancouver at Prince George
• April 2, 2021 Kelowna at Prince George
• April 3, 2021 Kelowna at Victoria
• April 5, 2021 Vancouver at Kelowna
• April 7, 2021 Kelowna at Kamloops
• April 10, 2021 Prince George at Kelowna
• April 12, 2021 Victoria at Kelowna
• April 13, 2021 Kelowna at Vancouver
• April 15, 2021 Kamloops at Kelowna

WHL Regular Season Game #178 originally scheduled to be played tonight between Vancouver and Prince George has also been postponed out of an abundance of caution.

The WHL or Kelowna Rockets will not be providing any further comment at this time
