Kelowna Rockets have acquired an 18-year-old netminder from the Edmonton Oil Kings

Rockets deal for goalie

It's getting crowded in the Kelowna Rockets goal crease.

The Rockets Tuesday night acquired 18-year-old netminder Colby Knight from the Edmonton Oil Kings in exchange for a fourth round pick in the 2025 prospects draft.

Knight appeared in 18 games for the Oil Kings during the shortened 2020-2021 season. He had a 3-1 record with a 2.25 goals against average and .885 save percentage.

He was originally a fifth round pick of the Oil Kings back in 2018.

The deal means the Rockets have four goaltenders on the active roster, including Knight, Cole Schwebius, Cole Tisdale and Nicholas Cristiano.

Rockets president and GM Bruce Hamilton will have to make a decision on which two will remain moving forward.

He also has to decide on which overage players to keep. The Rockets presently have four 20-year-olds on the roster, one over the limit.

Teams must be down to three by the weekend.
