Kelowna Rockets opened up a stretch of five straight on the road, beating Prince George 5-2 Friday

Rockets kick off trip with win

Talyn Boyko turned away 18 shots for his second straight win, leading the Kelowna Rockets to a 5-2 win in Prince George Friday.

The win helped the Rockets kick off five straight on the road on a positive note.

Mark Liwiski, Colton Dach and Pavel Novak all picked up a goal and an assist to pace the Rockets attack.

Steel Quiring and Tyson Feist also lit the lamp for the Rockets, who stretched their winning streak to three.

They have picked up points in six straight, going 5-0-0-1 over that stretch.

For the first time in eight games, the Rockets opened the scoring and, as teams have done to them recently, they hit the board early.

Liwiski, with a great individual effort, barged down the left wing, muscled his way to the front of the net, then deked Taylor Gauthier before sliding a backhand home just 2:18 into the opening period.

Quiring made it 2-0 10 minutes later, tapping home Max Graham's pass on a two-on-one break. Feist squeezed a wrist shot past Gauthier on a power play to make it 3-0.

The Cougars got one back before the end of the period, and cut the deficit to one in the second.

But, goals from Dach and Novak into an empty net iced it for the Rockets.

Kelowna outshot Prince George 31-20 on the evening.

The two teams will face off again Saturday night in Prince George.
