Kelowna Rockets will spend the weekend in Portland, Oregon

Rockets head south for pair

The Kelowna Rockets have arrived in the US for the first time in nearly two years as they get set for a pair of weekend games in Portland.

It was the end of February of 2020 when the Rockets last played south of the border, a 4-1 defeat in Everett. In fact, the Rockets have dropped their last five games on American soil.

The Rockets and Winterhawks will meet Friday and Saturday at Veterans Memorial Coliseum.

Kelowna comes into the weekend on a roll, and well rested.

They are 6-0-0-1 in their last seven, coming off a pair of wins in Prince George last weekend.

Their only loss during that stretch, a 5-4 shootout loss to the same Winterhawks at Prospera Place.

In that game, the Rockets battled back from a 4-2 first period deficit to force overtime.

The Winterhawks have yet to win since that night in Kelowna, going 0-3-1-0, their latest setback, a 3-2 overtime loss at home to Everett Tuesday.

These are games three and four in a string of five straight away from home for the Rockets.

They'll play in Spokane Wednesday before hosting the same Chiefs next Friday at Prospera Place.
