Blazers blow past Thunderbirds on the road for fourth straight win

Blazers win fourth straight

Nick McCarry scored once and had two assists on Wednesday as the Kamloops Blazers won their fourth straight game, a 4-1 victory on the road over the Seattle Thunderbirds.

Reese Belton, Quinn Schmiemann and Logan Stankoven were the other goal scorers for the Blazers. Jordan Gustafson scored the lone Seattle goal.

Dylan Garand stopped 32 of 33 Seattle shots, while Thunderbirds netminder Thomas Milic managed 32 saves on 36 Kamloops shots.

The win moves the Blazers to 15-2-0-0 on the season, good for top spot in the WHL’s B.C. Division standings — seven wins ahead of the second-place Kelowna Rockets (8-5-0-2).

The Blazers occupy the third spot in the latest edition of the CHL Top 10 rankings, released on Wednesday.

After a game against the Winterhawks (7-9-2-1) in Portland on Friday, the Blazers will close out their U.S. Division road trip on Saturday with a heavyweight bout against the Everett Silvertips (16-0-0-1), who lead the division and are ranked second in the CHL Top 10.
