COVID-19 has hit the Kelowna Rockets.
After dodging an outbreak of the virus that shut down 15 teams last week, the Western Hockey League announced Wednesday the Rockets and Brandon Wheat Kings are both pausing team activities.
As a result, games in Everett Friday and Vancouver Saturday have been postponed. The game in Everett has been rescheduled to Sunday, Feb. 6.
The pause was announced after multiple players and staff were added to the COVID-19 protocol list after exhibiting symptoms or testing positive for the virus.
The Rockets were required to take PCR tests this week in order to gain entry into the United States for Friday's game in Everett.
According to the league's COVID-19 policy, team activities are paused when a team is unable to ice a roster of 14 players.
The league's weekly report issued yesterday showed defencemen John Babcock and Jake Lee, who did not dress for last weekend's games against Victoria, were already in COVID protocol.
