Rockets struggles continue

In the road half of a home-and-home series with the Vancouver Giants it was the home side who prevailed 3-1 Friday.

The Rockets hit the scoresheet first when Adam Kydd buried his 14th of the campaign seven minutes into the opening period.

Kydd drove to the net but was denied by Jesper Vikman on his initial shot. He stayed with the ply and, from a sharp angle buried with rebound into the short side.

It was the only goal of the first period.

The Giants power play took over in the middle frame.

Tyler Thorpe and Jaden Lipinski beat Talyn Boyko in the second with the man advantage before Brenden Pentecost iced it in the third.

The Giants outshot the Rockets 38-32, including 13-5 in the decisive final period.

Despite the loss, the Rockets remain in an eighth place tie with Victoria in the Western Conference after the Royals fell 7-4 to Kamloops.
